RIDBC Cochlear Implant Program

RIDBC Cochlear Implant Program allows a seamless, end-to-end service from diagnosis through implantation and habilitation. RIDBC can provide the expertise to manage every aspect of the cochlear implant journey – reducing the complexity of the process and enhancing outcomes.

Services include:

  • Diagnostic audiology
  • Social work support
  • Mapping
  • Acute assessment
  • Surgeon liaison and coordination
  • Postoperative acute care
  • Habilitation and rehabilitation
  • Optimising and maintaining implantable hearing devices including upgrades, troubleshooting and spare processors
  • 24 hour help desk for cochlear implant support

Centre-based or remote service delivery is available for all components of the program using videoconference or web-based technologies.

Who can use this service?

RIDBC Cochlear Implant Program is offered as a discrete service for people of all ages or integrated within other RIDBC education and therapy services.

Where can I access the service?

Services are provided across a broad, centrebased network. RIDBC’s videoconferencing capacity means that cochlear implant mapping can continue remotely for recipients across Australia – combining therapy and education services if required.

When can I access the service?

Services are available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 6:00pm. An after-hours help desk support is available through the RIDBC Cochlear Implant Clinical Helpline.
