One of the greatest gifts one can give is time. For our volunteers, the time they have given is one of the reasons RIDBC is able to provide a world class service to people with hearing or vision loss.
From RIDBC Chief Executive Chris Rehn, “Volunteers have given an immense amount of time and expertise to RIDBC in our history. We are so fortunate and thankful for the contribution of all volunteers, past and present, and it is fitting we acknowledge their contribution as part of our 160th year celebrations. We simply wouldn’t be where we are today without them. On behalf of the RIDBC team, thank you!”
In 2019 over 25,000 hours were given by individual and corporate volunteers to RIDBC. As well, 25 RIDBC volunteers were recognised with volunteer service and recognition awards including two people reaching 20 years’ service and six people reaching 15 years’ service.
Stories celebrating our volunteers
Although it’s impossible to recognise all RIDBC volunteers, earlier this year we featured some that are changing communities and changing lives at RIDBC. We met Lionel, Valerie, Sudha, Zofia and Marilyn, who have given RIDBC a combined 90 years of service. Read their stories on the RIDBC website.
Last year, we shared Alan’s journey, an RIDBC volunteer of 24 years. Read Alan’s story on the RIDBC website.
Some of our past and present RIDBC volunteers
To all RIDBC volunteers – thank you
Thank you to volunteers, past and present, who give and have given so much of their time and expertise so that RIDBC can do more for those who need us.
Volunteer with RIDBC
Currently, due to COVID-19 restrictions normal volunteering has been temporarily ceased. RIDBC looks forward to welcoming our volunteers back to our sites when restrictions ease. As a national organisation with an extensive network of sites, we are always on the lookout for excellent people willing to lend a hand.
